ASH WEDNESDAY 2024

Today, I invite us to ponder with profound awareness the beginning of this holy season of lent - preparation for Holy Week, culminating in resurrection. We begin today with ASH WEDNESDAY.

Many of us may hold childhood understandings of this day and this season. Take a big breath.  Connect with your deepest places. Be open to new ways of understanding, new ways of interpreting.

HeartSpace Spiritual Community is based on the understanding of Christ energy permeating all that is; permeating you, me, Earth, Cosmos, every little bacteria and slithering worm to the majestic Eagles, Hawks, Condors, Ravens who soar through the clouds to places we can only dream about. Even an airplane can’t take us there. To the largest of mammals, the Whale, who scientists believe may have once walked the Earth, have taught

themselves to dive to the depths of the Sea, yet retain their need to surface to breathe.

Yep.  All of this.  Our Brothers and Sisters!  How often have you heard the phrase, “Come up for air?” Hmmmm? Perhaps we metaphorically imitate our Whale-Ancestor.

So - breathe once more, Christed Ones.  We are Creation people; Sacred, profound, amazing, awesome beings - like no other.

When we are touched by ashes - physically or metaphorically- I invite you to  connect with the Dust of Earth, and  take a moment to remember how we evolved. How we came to be.

Recall: Our “dustiness’.

Remember our beginnings.

We are Stardust.

Our Brothers and Sisters are Star People lighting up the heavens.

Today re-member who you are and who your Ancestors are.

There is so much I still don’t understand.

I think understanding comes in the RE-MEMBER-ING!

My definition of RE-MEMBER-ING:  to assemble/reassemble, to bring back

together, the pieces, parts, members of the whole;. to make it possible to

function as intended and more.

For me, LENT, beginning with Ash Wednesday, is a time to RE-MEMBER who I am, to discover my deeper layers of meaning that I do not yet comprehend, and most likely have evolved throughout the years. Evolved to a place I have never imagined.

Ashes are good fertilizer for grass- as per Mother Earth News. Yes, we are Ashes and Stardust - We have the capacity to Shine and to Renew!

Great start - on this Lenten Camino!

This journey of becoming.

This journey of the heart.

Do you agree?
